Meditating

Have you ever tried meditating but feel like it's just not working? You just can't sit still?

This used to be me as well.


This is very normal. Most of us live in our heads. If this is you, I have some tips for you.


1. Put some music on and start by doing one of the following for 2-3 min:

-shaking (stand in place and shake out your entire body, especially your tush :) )

-dance

-sit on the floor and stretch to the edge of your comfort

-yoga

-put on some music and sway your hips

-run up and down the stairs 2-3 times

While doing it, feel into your body. Have your attention on your breath. Focus on your breathing. You don't need to make it complicated. Just observe your breath, focus on the inhalation and the exhalation. This will move you out of your head (mind) and into your body. Your awareness will shift as well, from your thoughts to having more body awareness.


2. When you're finished, stand or sit with your eyes closed, place your hands on your heart and just observe how it feels to be in your body?


Get used to being in your body.
